Synopsis
BE STILL is a cinematic biblical drama inspired by Psalm 46 that explores surrender, suffering, reconciliation, and the presence of God in seasons of collapse.
Yacob is one of the most respected merchants in the region, a man whose integrity has been built over decades of honest labor, faithfulness, and devotion to God. Yet beneath the stability of his world, fractures quietly begin forming. His eldest son, Nathaniel, longs to escape the shadow of his father’s legacy, while a rival merchant consumed by jealousy launches false accusations that threaten to destroy everything Yacob has built.
As suspicion spreads throughout the city, trusted relationships begin collapsing. Business partners distance themselves, whispers grow louder, and Yacob’s once-stable world begins unraveling. At the same time, Nathaniel leaves home seeking independence, only to find himself descending into loneliness, regret, and emotional ruin far from his family.
Crushed beneath grief, public humiliation, and unanswered prayers, Yacob wrestles with the terrifying silence of God. At his breaking point, he experiences a profound storm vision in which collapsing mountains, roaring seas, and overwhelming cosmic chaos reveal a deeper spiritual truth centered around the words of Psalm 46: “Be still, and know that I am God.” Through the vision of an eagle soaring effortlessly above the storm, Yacob comes to understand that peace is not found in controlling life’s chaos, but in surrendering to the God who remains sovereign within it.
Transformed by the encounter, Yacob returns home no longer ruled by fear or reputation. When Nathaniel finally returns broken and ashamed, father and son are reconciled through grace, forgiveness, and the realization that God never abandoned either of them in the storm.
Emotionally restrained and visually cinematic, BE STILL blends spiritual depth, grounded realism, and poetic storytelling into a contemplative faith-based drama designed to resonate with both Christian and mainstream audiences.
